RE: leaking 2006 Outback sydney edition

The way that TT is built, you really don't have any corners up front do you?

RE: 2006 OUTBACK SYDNEY addition travel trailer NEED HELP

Definately contact Keystone directly...........I have had only one issue, and they jumped all over it immediately. I am very satisfied with that company.
Incidentally, I have seen many of these trailers, and have not noticed this problem, so it may be relatively rare.
Good luck

RE: Can't find the perfect TT

I think the Keystone Outback/Sydney Edition is probably about as close as your are going to get on this type of floor plan. However, you will be up into the 31' foot length area.
I have never seen your "perfect" trailer in anything shorter than 30'.
Good Luck

RE: Tow/haul mode

If your worried about decreased gas mileage in the tow/haul mode, forget it. There is no difference in gas mileage that you I can see. I like the added power, responsiveness and braking when using it.

RE: Weekend Trip

A suggestion on your pig tail problem.............When I get out to check the site before backing in, I attach a bungy cord to my wiring harness to pull it up out of the way. (just hook it to the crank handle. The bungy cord will give it anything starts putting pressure on the wiring, but it will not fall between the trailer and the hitch set up.
I don't get in a hurry either. They may be waiting, but if they are RVers, they are waiting patiently. If not, like the previous poster said, they can turn around.

RE: "Overkill" tow vehicle

I too, am in the "overkill" crowd. I pull a 28' VR-1 with a 2008 F-350 diesel crew cab. However, the added stability and power is worth every cent, and I don't have to worry about my weight. Also, this will handle my 5th wheel some day.

RE: Tire Wear Pattern-Tandem Axle TT (Pic's) Where to look next

In looking closely at your pictures, it looks as if none of your tires have been balanced.
That should be one of the things on your list to do. Most of the RV wheels are made "out of country", and very little thought is given to proper weight balance in the manufacturing process.

RE: We are looking for---------------

One type of TT I would surely look at is the "V" type. Several manufacturers are getting into this now.
What they do is actually extend the box out over the tongue and make this useable floor space. We, for example have a very large two sink bathroom out over where most travel trailers store their gas tanks.
These types of trailers have various floor plans such as kitchens, baths, or expanded living area up in the nose.
We purchased a Keystone VR-1 two years ago, and absolutely love it. The trailer is still classified as a 28" but we have an additional 5X8 foot, so, in affect, you are towing a 33 ft. trailer on a 28" chassis.
Worth a look.

RE: camping in wisconsin

Lake Kegonsa state park south of Madison is a really nice place. Excellent sites and a great fishing lake. If you time it right, there is a festival of sorts in Madison around the State capital building. Great food and entertainment.
We really enjoyed our stay here, and had a great time.
By the way, if any of you can remember the name of that festival and the dates, I would really like to know them so that we can return.
Thanks

RE: Route for Outer Banks, NC to Huntington Beach, SC

Yep, take 17 all the way. It will be slow going at times, but generally a pretty good route.
This route is better driven through the week if you can manage it.

RE: help need somewhere in NC to camp

Probably one of my favorite state parks in your area is Camp Creek State Park, just accross the state line in West Virginia (just of I77). This park is absolutely beautiful, perfectly located in an incredible area of the state.
The cost is only $19.00 per night. We travel all the way from Indiana just to spend a few nights in this park. The people are wonderful.
Try it, you'll like it!

RE: camping near Indianopolis

Another option for you is the campground at Walnut Ridge in New Castle IN. Nice place about 60 minutes from downtown INDY.
This is a family run RV park associated with a very large RV dealership. However, the campgound is very nicely maintained with plenty of shade.

RE: Michigan - need help with finding a campground

It may be at the outer fringes of your "2" hours, but the Yankee springs Recreation area near Battle Creek is one of the nicest parks I have visited in Michigan.....Nice Lake (shallow) and outstanding bath facilities......Very nicely located.
We return there whenever we can.

RE: Keystone TT's....any good?

We own a Keystone VR-1, and have had absolutely no problems with the trailer.............My son also has a Keystone outback (Sydney) edition which is just a WOW trailer. He has had no problems with his either.
I think Keystone makes a pretty good product.

RE: Indianapolis

Watch your speed on I465 south. The State Police have been hitting it pretty heavy this summer......You also have some 465 construction on the west side just prior to the I74 exit. Plenty of room, but some lane variations.

RE: Need different truck but which one?

I certainly agree, a 3/4 ton is exactly what you will need. Your GVWR tends to creep up on you after a couple of years camping and that would be critical in the 1/2 ton.
In my case, the 1/2 ton did just "ok" under ideal circumstances, but it did not take much to get you out of your comfort zone and into a potentially bad situation.
I moved from a 1/2 ton to a 1 ton F350 doesel and could not be happier. It was a bit of overkill on the truck, but that beast will handle anything we buy in the future.
On the truck itself, we looked at Dodge, Chevy and Ford, and essentially, as far a performance goes, they are pretty much the same. We just liked the roominess in the 350 crew cab a little bit more than the other two and I love the integrated brake system that Ford has.
Now is certainly the time to buy, I see great deals out there on both new and used vehicles.
Have fun in your new TT.
